Kaiako Te Reo Māori

Nau mai, haere mai. We are currently seeking an inspirational Kaiako of Te Reo Māori to work alongside our existing Matua and Kaiako in Te Reo Māori. An ability to teach Te Reo in both junior and senior schools with the capacity to either tutor Kapa Haka or STEM subjects would be an advantage. As a College, we continue to build our school-wide cultural capacity and confidence towards our vision of a dedicated bilingual unit within the new Horoeka Haemata (Rolleston College) Senior Campus which opened at the beginning of 2026, providing further opportunities for our rangatahi.
At Horoeka Haemata, we work to provide contextual learning opportunities that provide our ākonga with choice and agency, while still gaining the necessary skills, knowledge and qualifications. As a Te Reo Māori teacher you will be passionate about both academic and personal success, be able to cultivate a learning community and have a desire to provide a genuine learner-centred education.

Collaborative practice and whakawhānaungatanga are fundamental to our curriculum and philosophy as educators. As we look to continually build positive and collaborative relationships, explore what is important for our ākonga and their whānau and help to co-construct aspirational goals, mentoring and academic counselling for our ākonga in a warm and demanding way.
