Kaiwhakatere (Teacher Aide) Learning Support

We are seeking a positive, flexible, and compassionate individual to join our Learning Support Team to provide wrap-around support for learners.  Walking alongside our Rangatahi, you will be able to build strong relationships that foster trust and rapport.  By creating a safe and empowering environment, educators assist learners and encourage independence. 

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Helping our Rangatahi engage with their learning in the classroom and/or through personalised programmes. 
  • Providing physical interventions and personal care that aim to promote independence and well-being
  • Daily support aligned with learner goals, support plans, risk management strategies, and safety plans.
  • Improving life skills and behavioural support that reduces antisocial behaviour. 
  • And ensure that records are accurately documented and reported promptly

Ideally, applicants must be learner-centred and excited about working in a collaborative, flexible, responsive learning environment.  Has the ability to demonstrate empathy, be adaptable, and work well as part of a team, with basic computer skills.  A preference for applicants with work experience with young people or in a community support position is advantageous.

This is a fixed term, part time (20 hours per week) position with the hours being between 8.50am - 3.10pm Monday to Friday, term time only. Concluding 15th December 2026.

Depending on qualifications, skills and experience we have this role banded at Grade B/C of the Teacher Aide Work Matrix (Support Staff Collective Agreement).
