NCEA Administrator


Rolleston College is seeking an experienced, highly organised NCEA Administrator who will also be required to perform front desk/receptionist duties, to join our supportive and dynamic administration team.   The ability to work as part of a team, with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and honesty is essential. 

This role will support the school's NCEA programme by ensuring all National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) processes are managed accurately and efficiently.  The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: 

  • Data management: Maintaining all NCEA-related student data within the school's student management system (e.g., KAMAR) and ensuring accurate and timely data submission to NZQA.
  • Assessment coordination: Supporting the Principal's Nominee and Examination Centre Manager with internal and external assessment procedures, including managing entries, withdrawals, and derived grades.
  • Information and guidance: Providing clear and timely information and advice to teachers on NCEA requirements and school assessment procedures.
  • Exam management: Assisting with the organisation and smooth running of both school-based and external examinations.
  • Reporting: Responding to monthly NZQA data error reports and importing external assessment results at the beginning of each year.
  • Policy management: Working with the Principal's Nominee to ensure that the school's assessment policy aligns with current NZQA requirements. 

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and experience: 

  • Proven experience in a similar administrative role, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • A thorough understanding of the NCEA qualification and NZQA processes.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent data management skills and proficiency with student management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines. 

This role is fixed term, part-time (30 hours per week).  Non-term hours may require some flexibility but can be negotiated in advance, depending on school commitments. 

Depending on qualifications, skills, and experience, we have assigned this role to Admin Matrix, Grade 3 of the Support Staff Collective Agreement(grade/step negotiable for the right candidate
