The Examination Centre Manager (ECM) is responsible to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) for conducting the NZQA examinations held in November and December each year. As ECM, you will be responsible for managing all processes relating to conducting secondary examinations according to NZQA procedures, including employing sufficient supervisors to ensure reliable supervision while efficiently using the minimum number of supervisors.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the exam centre during the exam period (November 4–Nov 28).
- Coordinate the preparation and organisation of exams.
- Train and manage exam supervisors.
- Oversee a range of administrative tasks to ensure everything runs efficiently.
Relevant skills & qualifications include:
- High level of digital literacy (Word, Excel, and ability to adapt quickly to new software).
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong leadership ability with experience managing diverse teams.
Upon appointment, all ECM’S must complete an online training programme and attend a one-day training session with NZQA in August. This will allow you to plan and complete several administrative tasks to prepare for the exams between August and October.
You must be fully available to work for the entire exam period, from November 4th to November 28th, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM. As such, the role requires a high level of organisational skills with great attention to detail, the ability to follow processes precisely, confidence in leading people of all ages, and proficiency in using a computer and learning new computer programmes.
