Teacher Aide
We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher Aide, fluent in both Japanese and English to support a student in their academic learning and school environment. In this role you will work closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored instructional, linguistic and cultural support to a learner. You will play a vital role in ensuring the student whose primary language is Japanese feels supported, included and empowered to succeed.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide dual language instructional support in classroom activities, assignments and reading comprehension.
- Translate learning materials, instructions and daily schedules between Japanese and English as needed
- Assist classroom teachers with individual learning plans and behavioral/learning interventions.
- Facilitate clear communication between the learner, teachers, support staff and families.
- Foster a welcoming, culturally inclusive environment that builds student confidence and engagement.
Ideally, applicants must be learner-centred and excited about working in a collaborative, flexible, responsive learning environment. Has the ability to demonstrate empathy, be adaptable, and work well as part of a team, with basic computer skills. A preference for applicants with work experience with young people or in a community support position is advantageous.
Depending on qualifications, skills and experience we have this role banded at Grade B/C of the Teacher Aide Work Matrix (Support Staff Collective Agreement). This is a fixed term, part time, term time position of 10 hours per week commencing 1st February 2027 and concluding 16th December 2027.
